Packaging design that earns its place on the shelf.
Coppergate is a CPG branding and packaging design studio. I help food and beverage founders build brands that compete with the big guys without the big-agency price tag or the big-agency runaround.

Your Questions Answered
No fluff, no hedging. These are the questions I get on every first call and how I answer them in person.

What does Coppergate specialize in?
CPG branding and packaging design — specifically food, beverage, craft spirits, coffee, breweries, and restaurant brands that are serious about growth. I don't do brand work for every industry. I go deep in one: consumer packaged goods. That focus is intentional. The shelf dynamics, buyer expectations, and design conventions in CPG are specific enough that generalist design experience doesn't cut it. I know this category because I work in it every day and because I co-founded a CPG brand myself.
Do you work with first time founders?
Yes and I'd argue first-time founders need me more than anyone. The most expensive branding mistake in CPG is launching with packaging that isn't retail-ready and having to redo it six months later with less capital and more urgency. My Sprint package is built specifically for founders at the early stage: brand strategy, logo, and labels for 1–3 SKUs, starting at $7,500. Enough to launch, generate pre-sales, and get in front of your first retailer without overcommitting before you've validated the product.
How long does a typical project take?
It depends on the scope. A Sprint — strategy, logo, and labels — runs 4–8 weeks. A Foundation build with a full identity system, packaging, website, and collateral takes 3–6 months. A full Refresh for an established brand typically runs 6–12 months. The thing that slows projects down most is decision-making on the client side. Luckly, my process is built to minimize that. We do the strategy work upfront so that when design starts, every decision has a reason and sign-off is faster.
What does "strategy first" mean in practice?
It means we don't open a design file until we've done the thinking. Every project starts with a brand strategy workshop which defines your target customer, your competitive positioning, and what your packaging needs to communicate at shelf in under two seconds. That strategy becomes the brief. The design is the answer to the brief. It's the difference between packaging that looks good and packaging that sells.
Do you offer support after the project wraps?
Yes. Foundation package clients have on-call design support built in for the remaining months of their first year to cover new SKU variations, collateral updates, whatever comes up. If you need ongoing design support beyond that, my monthly subscription covers unlimited requests at $3,500/month. New SKUs, seasonal packaging, pitch decks, social content, website updates for one flat fee. No project scoping. No hourly rates. A lot of fast-growing brands find it's more cost-effective than hiring in-house.

Let's figure out if we're a good fit.
I start every engagement with a quick call. No pitch deck, no hard sell. If it makes sense, I'll put together a scope that matches your stage and budget. If it doesn't, I'll tell you that too.
